Winter weather causes cancellations to OIA

ORLANDO, Fla. — While residents are feeling a cold snap in Orlando, it is nothing compared to the frigid temperatures across the country.

The temperatures are causing several cancellations at Orlando International Airport.

There were close to 20 cancellations at Orlando International Airport Tuesday as the winter weather moved through the Midwest and passed through the East Coast overnight.

The majority of the cancellations were flights to and from Chicago, New York and the Northeast.

Those areas were hit by thick ice and winter storms during the past several days.

Airport officials said they expect the delays to continue as long as weather conditions make it unsafe to fly.
