MELBOURNE, Fla. — Melbourne police said they’ve arrested one of two women seen in social media photographs sitting on a sea turtle in July.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was flooded with complaints as the pictures went viral, prompting a criminal investigation.
Officers responding to a disturbance on Espanola Way Saturday morning made contact with 20-year-old Stephanie Moore, who had a warrant for her arrest.
The charge on the county felony warrant was described as “possessing, selling or molesting a marine turtle or eggs nest.”
Moore is being held at the Brevard County Jail on a $2,000 bond.
