ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando police are trying to find a serial thief who has targeted women at the Mall at Millenia.
Authorities said the crook was able to rip off the victims without anyone noticing.
Two women reported their purses slashed at the mall on Conroy Road in Orlando over the weekend.
Azra Gardee was shopping with her mother and a few friends from overseas. They picked out some clothes at GAP, but that's when they realized one woman's wallet was missing.
"Our bags were on us the whole time, and that's the scary part about it," said Gardee. "We never let our bags out of our sight."
The thieves took off with $850 in cash, gold earrings and other personal items.
Another woman in the group found her purse slashed as well. However, the crooks weren't able to get anything out.
The victims said the store was pretty much empty, and they don't remember anyone coming near them.
"It was so threatening to think that someone violently slashed your purse and removed your belongings without you even realizing it," said Gardee.
Police told them that purse slashing is a growing problem, but surveillance video from the store did not catch the crime.
The victims shuddered to think about what else could have happened.
"My mind doesn't even want to go there but it could've been worse," Gardee said.
