Worker at Wekiva Falls RV Resort accused of molesting girl, 8, on property

SORRENTO, Fla. — A Sorrento man is facing multiple charges after Lake County deputies said he was caught sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl at the Wekiva Falls RV resort.

Investigators said Charles Woods worked in maintenance at the resort and also lived there.

They said he befriended the child in order to gain her trust, and his roommate walked in on and caught him in the act of assaulting a child.

Deputies said he gained her friendship by cheering her on as she was swimming at the resort.

Woods’ roommate reported the incident to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies are concerned that there might be more victims because the resort is typically packed with parents and their children.

Officials at the resort did not want to speak about the incident.

Woods is facing a more than $800,000 bond on charges of lewd and lascivious molestation, child abuse and false imprisonment.
