DELTONA, Fla. — A Deltona man fought back when he caught a thief trying to break into his car.
Sheriff's deputies said the would-be thief threw a punch at the homeowner, who then punched him in the face, knocking him unconscious Wednesday morning.
According to a report, while the homeowner was calling 911, Justin Braddock, 34, regained his senses.
He jumped into a car he'd parked nearby and drove off. Braddock left a trail of debris as his fleeing vehicle crashed into mailboxes, street signs and a utility pole, authorities said.
Authorities said the car came to a stop and he fled on foot, but deputies soon arrested him.
Braddock remains in the Volusia County Jail on multiple charges.
Deputies said they found numerous stolen items in Braddock's car.
