Melbourne High School football team quarantined after positive COVID-19 test

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A positive COVID-19 test has forced the Melbourne High School football team into quarantine, and will cost them their next two games, according to Brevard Public Schools.

The school district says they met with the Brevard County Department of Health before making the decision to quarantine the team.

The health department has notified all staff and families of the affected students and asked them to quarantine for 14 days.

The school district says the team will have to forfeit their next two scheduled games on October 9 against Cocoa High School and October 16 against Viera.

They’re scheduled to resume play on October 23.

The district says they’ll deep clean the areas where the team congregated.

Students will continue with classes through online learning during the quarantine period.
