MERRITT ISLAND, Fla.,None — A crash that hit and killed a pedestrian in Brevard County is under investigation Monday morning.
The incident happened near a Walmart store off State Road 520 on Merritt Island Sunday night.
WFTV talked to the driver who hit the man. He says the area is too dark, and he and his wife did not see the victim until it was too late.
"She yells, ‘watch out!' and no sooner than she said ‘watch out,' it was like the guy just appeared and I tried to swerve without hitting him. But then, the ‘watch out,' and me swerving, ‘boom,' hit him," said driver Mike Grillakis.
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating. There is no word yet if the driver will face any charges.
