As the Central Florida community begins the healing process after Sunday’s mass shooting at Pulse nightclub, local businesses and groups continue to step in and donate to help families cover funeral costs.
The owner of a popular Winter Park print shop is making programs and other things for free, for the grieving families.
Employees at Fineline Printing were hard at work Thursday, with machines buzzing and hearts hurting for the Pulse victims.
“Being a parent, you think about the other parents and how they’re reacting to it, and it has to be devastating,” said Lee DeScalzo.
Lynn DeScalzo and Lee DeScalzo wanted to find a way to honor the victims, while helping their families.
“After talking with my wife, she said, 'Is there more we can do? Because we have the business and we have our resources, why not give our resources?'” said Lee DeScalzo.
As many families continue to make funeral arrangements, the husband and wife are now offering to print up everything from funeral programs to prayer cards for those services, for free.
“We can fully customize any of the pieces that they’re looking for. They can bring us photos. They can bring us stories,” said Lynn DeScalzo.
It’s something that would normally cost $500 or more, but the business owners said they’ll take care of the costs for as many people as necessary.
“This was--you have this piece of paper to put into a scrapbook for your loved one, and you’re going to hold on to that,” said Lee DeScalzo. “And you’re going to open that up, and you’re going to remember them forever.”
Fineline Printing has three locations. Here's the number people can call right now to get help with free programs: 407-622-6622. You can also email FinelineWinterPark@MSN.com.
