School bus crashes through playground fence in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — A school bus crashed through a fence that sits around a children's playground at the Coalition for the Homeless Wednesday, WFTV learned.

An eyewitness told WFTV the bus was turning onto Parramore Street from Central Avenue around 9 a.m. Wednesday morning when it suddenly sped up and hit the curb.

"The next thing you know she was through the fence, the trees slowed her down and the tires were spinning and she was throwing dirt onto the road," said witness Mike Carman.

There were no children on the bus or playground at the time of the incident.

The only people on the bus were the driver and an assistant.

No one was injured during the crash.

The driver was cited for careless driving, officials said.
