Charter Communications announced Friday it will offer free access to Spectrum broadband and wi-fi to homes with college students, or students in grades K-12.
The offer comes as schools around the country move to virtual learning in an effort to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. On Friday, Central Florida public school districts announced their plans as classes let out for the spring break holiday. Of the nine districts in the area, only Sumter County will resume classes on March 23. Others will return March 30. Local universities have been in the process of working with staff to move their courses exclusively online.
