PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — A 6-year-old Florida boy raised more than $500 from a lemonade stand to help those impacted by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas.
Elliott Lefko already wanted to set up a lemonade stand, but seeing the devastation Hurricane Dorian brought to the Bahamas gave him a reason, WPTV reported.
Elliott’s parents, Justin and Lauren Lefko, helped promote the stand online. Soon, people were asking if they could donate online.
The stand itself was also popular.
What the family thought would be two hours spent selling lemonade turned into six.
"My dad had to run back to the store and buy some more lemonade," Elliott told WPTV.
The family then spent the proceeds on tents, first-aid kits, blow-up mattresses and sheets to give to a charity collecting items for victims in the Bahamas.
