All 8 'Harry Potter' movies to return to IMAX theaters

Nearly 15 years after the first installment of the "Harry Potter" series hit theaters, all eight movies will be shown again at theaters across the country.

For one week, starting on Oct. 13, the movies will be shown at select IMAX theaters. It will be the first time that "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" will be shown in IMAX.

"'Harry Potter' is one of the most beloved film franchises of all time and is incredibly important to the history of IMAX. Therefore, being able to offer each installment -- especially the initial two for the very first time in IMAX -- makes this a truly magical event for fans," said Greg Foster, CEO of IMAX Entertainment and senior executive vice president of IMAX Corp.

According to Variety, the "Harry Potter" franchise has grossed approximately $216 million at IMAX theaters worldwide to date.

Fans, who have the option to purchase any of four admission packages -- single viewing ticket, one-day access, four-show access and "festival access" with unlimited admittance throughout the event -- will also hear recorded greetings from the film's stars and get a first look at a new trailer for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," Variety reported. Stars will also make appearances at screenings in Los Angeles and London and participate in a question-and-answer session.

The offerings come a few weeks before the latest Potter-related film is released.
"Fantastic Beasts," the first visual resurgence into J.K. Rowling's wizarding world since 2011's "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," will hit theaters Nov. 18.

Tickets to see the Potter films this month are on sale now at the IMAX website.
