NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A man was fatally shot while sitting inside of his car in the parking lot of a Nashville-area Waffle House, authorities said.
Police responded to a call about a shooting at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, WZTV-TV reported. Officers found two people who had been shot, according to the television station.
According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the shooting was the result of gunfire during an apparent drug deal, WSMV-TV reported. One man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other man was taken to an area hospital, WKRN-TV reported.
“I was working on the car around 2:00, 2:30, and I hear like a shotgun,” Sameh Bekhat told WSMV. “I didn’t pay attention until the cops came.
“When I look across the street to the Waffle House, I see the guy, he does pressure, like pumping his heart.”
It was the sixth shooting in that area of Murfreesboro Pike in Nashville since the beginning of 2021, WKRN reported.
Saturday’s incident came nearly two months after three people were wounded in a shooting at a Waffle House in Clarksville, Tennessee. It also came four years after a man opened fire at a Waffle House in Antioch, Tennessee, killing four people.
Nashville police said there were no suspects in custody from Saturday’s shooting, WZTV reported.
