CHICAGO — At least one person has died and seven others are recovering from injuries after gunfire erupted overnight in Chicago’s Ashburn neighborhood, authorities said.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times and WLS-TV, Chicago police said the incident occurred shortly after midnight Friday along West 79th Street. Several people were attending a gathering when two or more gunmen opened fire, killing a 26-year-old man and wounding seven others, police said.
The surviving victims include a 27-year-old man in critical condition; a 28-year-old man and 40-year-old woman in serious condition; two men, ages 22 and 28, in fair condition; a 32-year-old man in unknown condition; and another person, whose age and sex were not given, in unknown condition, police told the news outlets.

Police, who found several weapons at the scene, have not arrested anyone in connection with the shooting, according to the news outlets. The investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
