Tuggle’s death on June 19 from complications related to cancer was confirmed by his son, Rolling Stone reported.

Tuggle performed with iconic musicians over his career, including Rick Springfield who paid tribute to him on Twitter, writing “Our sweet Brett Tuggle made it home tonight. God bless his beautiful spirit.”

Tuggle also played with Jimmy Page and was a founding member of David Lee Roth’s band, Rolling Stone and People magazine reported.

Tuggle and Roth co-wrote the hit “Just Like Paradise.”

The keyboardist got his big break in 1981 when he started playing with John Kay and Steppenwolf. He joined Fleetwood Mac in 1997 after he had worked on a side project with Mick Fleetwood in 1992. But Tuggle left Fleetwood Mac in 2017, Billboard reported. Tuggle said he was let go because Stevie Nicks thought he was too close to Lindsey Buckingham who had previously been fired. Tuggle had performed with both Buckingham and Nicks when they went their separate ways, but when scheduling issues arose and Tuggle had to make a decision, he went with Buckingham, Rolling Stone reported.

Tuggle said he was shocked to find out he was fired.

“I also realized that I was in the middle of the politics of Lindsey and Stevie and this band, and there was nothing I was going to be able to do about it,” Tuggle had told Rolling Stone in 2020. “I had become Lindsey’s guy and that was it, and I had to accept it.”

Tuggle had no hard feelings when he left, Fox News reported.

Tuggle leaves behind his son Matt and daughter Michelle, Billboard reported.
