The tech, identified only as Jesse with Kleen Air, told KHOU that he was changing filters in the Comerica Bank’s attic on Wednesday when he came face-to-face with what appeared to be a 6-foot rattlesnake.

According to the TV station, Jesse called bank employees for help, who alerted police.

Meanwhile, the snake had Jesse cornered for some time, while responding officers reportedly moved his ladder around to help facilitate his escape without the serpent striking.

“I was fixing to jump through the ceiling … He had me pinned up there about 10, 15 minutes,” Jesse told KHOU.

A few tools may have been left behind in Jesse’s hustle for lower ground.

“He slithered down into the corner, curled up and then poked his head, stared at me, never took his eyes off of me. He was rattling his tail, and I was like, ‘Nope this isn’t happening. Not today,’” he added.

A pest control company was called out to help relocate the animal, and employees told Jesse that they believe the snake most likely slithered out of the bayou behind the bank, the TV station reported.
