MANHATTAN — A man was arrested for allegedly killing a 25-year-old woman after her shift at an IHOP in Manhattan, New York, early Thursday, police say.
According to WPIX, the New York Police Department said Clarkson Wilson, 44, was arrested and has been charged with murder as well as two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
The NYPD told WNBC that Wilson was arrested Saturday around 7 a.m., days after the deadly shooting. Police believe that a possible motive for the shooting was some kind of domestic dispute.
WPIX reported that the woman who was killed had just finished her shift at the IHOP restaurant when a gunman approached her on the street. He then shot her in the head at around 5 a.m. on Thursday.
The gunman, later identified as Wilson, wore all black and possibly a mask at the time of the shooting, according to WNBC. Wilson fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. Investigators were able to get some video from the IHOP that showed the victim leaving a few minutes before 5 a.m.
No further information has been released, including the victim’s name. The investigation is ongoing.
