According to KULR and KTVM, the incident occurred Sunday as the team was traveling from Dickinson, North Dakota, to Bozeman.

“With just two hours left of travel, our team bus suffered an engine failure that started a fire,” the team said in an Instagram post Monday. “That fire quickly spread and eventually destroyed the entire bus, along with many of the items within it.”

The team added that no one was injured in the blaze; however, “many players’ personal items were lost,” according to the post.

“Over 20 of our players lost their laptops and notes, items that are vital to their academic success,” the post continued. “With the end of the semester just four weeks away, we could use help on replacing these laptops and more to finish the semester as student-athletes.”

The No. 8-ranked team also said it is now facing travel challenges ahead of the national tournament, which begins May 9 in Round Rock, Texas.

“With our primary means of transportation being destroyed, we are struggling to afford the travel costs that are coming up and we need your help to get us there!” the post read.

The club created a GoFundMe campaign Monday to help cover the costs. By Tuesday morning, it had raised nearly $49,000, surpassing the campaign’s $40,000 goal.
