CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — A man who bought a new home in Ohio was shocked to discover the body of the home’s previous owner in the basement.
The Cleveland Heights director of communications told WOIO that the body was found in the basement of the home on Tuesday morning.
City officials said the body was identified as 71-year-old Nina Fielden, who was the previous owner of the home, WKYC reported. Investigators said there were no signs of trauma to the body.
The homeowner told officers they had recently purchased the property at a sheriff’s sale and were visiting to check on it, according to WEWS.
The incident is under investigation, and it is not clear why the body was not found prior to the sheriff’s sale.
