According to Rolling Stone and The Guardian, the band said Hunt, who also occasionally wrote songs for the group, died Monday afternoon in London.

“We are saddened beyond words,” the Pogues captioned a tribute photo shared on their official Instagram account.

The post concluded with a pair of lines from the Pogues’ “Love You ‘Till the End,” which Hunt wrote, according to Rolling Stone: “I know you want to hear me catch my breath / I love you till the end.”

The post did not say what caused Hunt’s death.

Fellow band members Shane MacGowan and Spider Stacy also took to social media to react to the news, The Guardian reported.

“I am very very sorry that Darryl has passed away, we will all miss him, he was a really great person and friend and a great bass player,” MacGowan, 64, wrote on Instagram. “May he spend eternity doing whatever he wants to do in eternal bliss, and blessings to all of the Pogues and to his family and friends.”

“This is wretched,” tweeted Stacy, 63. “See you around the way, Daz. ‘It’s in the fridge’ #TrickyTrees.”
