ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Police in North Carolina are hoping surveillance video helps lead them to a suspected burglar who left their tools behind at the scene of the crime.
The Asheville Police Department said in a news release that a “cat burglar” broke into a West Asheville restaurant early Monday morning.
Officers at the scene said they saw the back door of the restaurant forced open. Investigators said they were able to determine that the burglar tried to break into a safe, but eventually gave up and left behind their tools.
Nobody was found inside when police searched the restaurant.
Investigators said they are using video surveillance as well as other physical evidence in their search for the suspected burglar, but said they hope that someone will come forward with information about the break-in, WYFF reported.
Police released a photo of the suspected burglar from the surveillance video.
