The United States Department of Agriculture’s Food and Safety and Inspection Service issued a public health alert on Tuesday for Perdue’s frozen ready-to-eat gluten-free chicken tenders, after possible contamination.
According to FSIS, the Perdue ready-to-eat gluten-free chicken tenders were produced on July 12, 2022.
“42 oz. plastic bags containing “PERDUE CHICKEN BREAST TENDERS GLUTEN FREE” with a “Best if Used By: 07 12 23″ and a lot number of 2193 above the use by date,” said FSIS in a news release.
Investigators learned that a customer had complained that a chicken tender had a small piece of plastic and blue dye in it, according to WJW-TV.
WJW-TV said that no illnesses or bad reactions have been reported.
FSIS said a recall has not been issued because these specific chicken tenders are no longer available for purchase. They were originally shipped to BJ’s Wholesale Club locations nationwide.
If you or anyone you know has this product, it is recommended to throw it away or return it to where you purchased it, said FSIS. You can also call the USDA at 888-674-6854 with any questions.
