According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Minnesota-based Fairmont Foods issued a recall Thursday for certain boxes of Schwan’s Spinach and Artichoke Dip that contain undeclared wheat and soy allergens.

The recalled 24-ounce packages, labeled with the Schwan’s logo and the words “Spinach & Artichoke Dip,” bear the number 802 and Product Information Code P82013 XXXX, according to an FDA news release. Each box contains two bowls of the dip, the company said.

“The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the incorrect packaging had been used,” the release said, adding that Schwan’s delivery service may have distributed the products to homes in the lower 48 states. The affected items were not available in retail stores, according to the FDA.

Although officials have not received any reports of illness in connection with the products, the FDA warned that “people who have allergies or sensitivities to soy and wheat run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction.” If you have the recalled item, throw it away and contact Schwan’s to receive a refund, the release said.

Anyone with questions about the recall should call Fairmont Foods at 507-238-9001, ext. 6125, or email john.heuer@fairmontfoods.com.
