BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Five people are recovering from injuries after a speeding car struck a group of people outside an Alabama nightclub.

According to WBRC-TV and WIAT-TV, Birmingham police said the incident occurred about 2 a.m. Friday outside the Airport Lounge Nightclub. Authorities said a group was in the parking lot when the car struck four people and multiple vehicles, the news outlets reported.
Police said five people, including the car’s driver, were rushed to the hospital, WBRC reported. One victim’s wounds were life-threatening, officials said.
Police believe the suspect had been speeding while “exhibition driving” on nearby 50th Street, according to the news outlets.
Authorities have detained one person for questioning in connection with the incident, the outlets reported.
