ST. LOUIS, Mo. — A 63-year-old woman has died one month after her roommate in a St. Louis assisted-living facility doused her in hot oil.
The woman, identified as Doren Davis, was rushed to an area hospital to be treated for severe burns following the March 7 attack at Smiley Manor, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed to KTVI.
She died Sunday.
The 65-year-old roommate, who has not been identified publicly, told police that she poured the hot cooking oil on Davis because she was upset over “personal matters,” McClatchy News reported.
According to KTVI, the St. Louis Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Davis’ death a homicide.
The roommate was arrested immediately following the March attack and has remained in custody with the Missouri Department of Corrections, McClatchy reported.
