Police said Renelle Sonia, 38, stole a Malden Police Department cruiser that was parked near the front door of police headquarters Tuesday night, WFXT reported. Officers had been attending to another matter when she took the vehicle.

Police told WFXT the stolen cruiser was spotted driving erratically just over 8 miles away on the Zakim Bridge in Boston. A trooper tried to stop the cruiser, but Sonia refused to stop the vehicle.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation shared video from inside Boston’s O’Neill Tunnel that shows officers in pursuit of the cruiser.

State police told WFXT that Sonia eventually exited the highway and stopped outside a restaurant, where she was arrested.

There were no injuries reported and the cruiser was not damaged.
