VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Researchers from the University of Florida used shark bite statistics from Volusia County to conduct a new study on what may cause the animals to attack.
According to the study, shark attacks in Volusia County most often occur on Sundays and typically happen in less than six-feet of water. The research also indicated that sharks are more likely to bite people wearing black and white clothing.
Volusia County has been dubbed the shark bite capital of the world, with 231 attacks reported between 1956 and 2008.
