Seminole County deputies said they are searching for 21-year-old Gary Bryant's two accomplices, after the three attempted to rob the Allied Veterans 67 Internet Cafe on State Road 436 (see map) in Apopka around 1:00am Tuesday.
The surveillance video shows the scene of the shootout and attempted robbery inside the Internet café, which is often compared to a small casino.
Detectives said two suspects ran into the Internet café, while the third was by the getaway car, and got into a gun fight with a security guard.
After wrestling with one of the suspects, the security guard took cover behind a pillar as the suspects fired shots. The business was packed with people. The other suspect started yelling at customers to get down.
"Three suspects get out of the vehicle. Two actually enter the business," said Lt. James Clark of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.
Moments later, the security guard popped out and returned fire, striking Bryant.
The three suspects took off, but moments later, two of the would-be robbers dumped the wounded man out of the car near a hotel on Clarcona Ocoee Road, deputies said.
Bryant, who was on probation for robbery, was rushed to Orlando Regional Medical Center, but he was already dead.
Customers said they're shocked something like the attempted robbery and shooting happened, but deputies are not. They said the gaming centers deal in cash and attract crime.
"One suspect, who was in the building, was firing rounds over the door of the car back to the business," said Clark.
Now, investigators are hoping someone will recognize the heavy-set getaway driver and the smaller man who was firing shots.
The security guard's name has not been released.
No one else hurt, and the suspects didn't get away with any money.
In a robbery at a similar business in Fern Park last year, the thieves took $21,000 in cash.
