Woman Finds Man Dead, Blood Everywhere

PALM BAY, Fla.,None — A bloody scene surrounded the body of a Brevard County man found dead Tuesday in his home on Rheine Road (see map) and police still haven't revealed his identity. A friend found the 67-year-old victim in the house where he lived alone in Palm Bay.

The body of the Palm Bay man was wheeled out of his home Tuesday afternoon. Investigators hope an autopsy will determine what killed him.

The man's bloodied body was discovered around 8:15am Tuesday when a female friend came by the house after she hadn't heard from him in a couple of days.

"When she arrived, she found him dead on the floor and significant amounts of blood and immediately called for police," said Yvonne Martinez of the Palm Bay Police Department.

Police say the man had medical conditions that might explain some of the blood, but investigators are still treating the scene as a possible murder case.

Investigators have not released the man's identity while they attempt to notify next of kin. WFTV learned the man was a regular, three nights a week, at Rooney's Restaurant. It was the last place he was seen alive, Saturday night.

Sandy Harris said he would also stay with them while they closed up to make sure the waitresses made it to their cars safely. Harris said she finds it hard to believe someone would hurt him.

"He never did anything wrong. He was not a bad guy. He never got in any fights. He was a nice guy," she said. "Every time he came in he always brought us all lollipops, all the girls lollipops."

Investigators said the man lived in his home alone. There were no obvious signs of a break-in, but they found so much blood they were trying to determine if there was a struggle with someone that led to his death.

"There is a significant amount of blood in the house, whether or not there was a struggle is something that needs to be determined by our crime scene and our homicide detectives," Martinez said.

Investigators are tracking down people who knew the man in an attempt to figure out what he was doing between Saturday night and when he was found dead Tuesday morning.
