ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orange County woman is in the hospital, suffering third-degree burns after her boyfriend told WFTV that she intentionally set herself on fire.
Winston Williams told WFTV that he and his girlfriend just started renting the house on 20th Street in Orange County two weeks ago.
"She poured gasoline all over herself because she thought I was cheating," Williams said.
Williams said his girlfriend Shelly Forrester used the dresser to lock herself in the back bedroom of the home, then she poured gasoline everywhere.
"When I pushed the door, I saw gas all over the floor on my bed on that dresser and on herself," said Williams.
Williams said Forrester kicked him out of the house and lit a match. She then ran out of the house and down the street for help, and an ambulance caught up with her two blocks away, officials said.
Rescue crews rushed Forrester to the trauma unit at Orlando Regional Medical Center with third-degree burns on her feet.
Three cats died in the fire and Williams said everything inside is gone.
Forrester may face arson charges.
