Urban Meyer nearing deal to become Jacksonville Jaguars next head coach, reports say

Urban Meyer is nearing a deal to become the next head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to several media reports.

Meyer is expected to leave the broadcast booth and return to the sidelines after a two-year absence that followed a health scare, the AP reported.

He won three national championships and compiled a 187-32 college coaching record during stints at Bowling Green, Utah, Florida and Ohio State, ESPN reported. He won two of those titles (2006, 2008) with the Gators, whom he led to a 65-15 record in six seasons.

The Jacksonville Jaguars finished the season with a 1-15 record. The team has 11 picks in the 2021 draft, including five in the top 65, the AP reported.
