ORLANDO, Fla. — Channel 9 meteorologists are closely watching an area of the Gulf of Mexico for development.
The National Hurricane Center is highlighting an area in the southwest Gulf giving it a 30% chance of tropical development in the next five days.

“Tropical models are hinting at an area of low pressure developing late next week in the western Gulf,” Meteorologist Rusty McCranie said. “We’ll be watching closely.”
