Superbloom of wildflowers covering California hills visible from space

A super bloom of wildflowers blanketing the hills in Southern California is so extensive and so colorful, it's visible from space.

DigitalGlobe's WorldView-2 satellite took breathtaking photos on March 19 of the massive poppy bloom covering the hillsides in Walker Canyon.

Residents and tourists alike have been flocking to the area to see the giant bloom for themselves, snapping selfies and Instagram-worthy photos of the stunning sight.

An extremely wet winter and lots of rainfall this year sparked the huge super bloom, according to experts.
