9 things to do this weekend: Vrbo Citrus Bowl, New Year’s Eve celebrations & more

ORLANDO, Fla. — Looking for something to do this weekend?

Here’s a list of nine things happening in Central Florida.

1. 2021 Vrbo Citrus Bowl

The Iowa Hawkeyes and the Kentucky Wildcats will meet on New Year’s Day in the Vrbo Citrus Bowl at Camping World Stadium.

2. Old Town New Year’s Eve celebration

A car show, live entertainment and more will lead up to the free fireworks show.

3. SeaWorld New Year’s Eve fireworks

SeaWorld will host its annual New Year’s Eve fireworks on Friday.

4. New Year’s Eve at The Edison

At Disney Springs, The Edison is hosting a New Year’s Eve gala with live entertainment, dining and an open dance floor. The event starts at 8 p.m.

5. New Year’s Eve at Boxi Park

Boxi Park will host a New Year’s Eve party. It starts at 4 p.m. Click here for tickets.

6. New Year’s Eve at Avalon Lake

New Year’s Eve fireworks over Avalon Lake begin at midnight.

7. New Year’s Eve at Sunset Park

Food, drinks and live music begin at 9 p.m. ahead of the fireworks at Sunset Park, 230 W. 4th Avenue in Mount Dora.

8. Orlando Solar Bears vs. South Carolina Stingrays

The Orlando Solar Bears will go head to head with the South Carolina Stingrays at the Amway Center.

9. Asian Lantern Festival: Into the Wild

The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens has opened a dazzling nighttime event, “Asian Lantern Festival: Into the Wild.”

The display features more than 100 larger-than-life lanterns spread throughout the zoo.

The event runs at night, outside normal zoo operation hours, until Jan. 16.
