Police: Missing 9-year-old Mount Dora boy found safe

MOUNT DORA, Fla. — Mount Dora police say a missing boy has been located and is safe.

Investigators said John Weldon, 9, was last seen in Mt. Dora on March 3.

They believed Weldon may have been accompanied by 42-year-old Daryl Weldon, also of Mount Dora.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued an alert about the missing child earlier this month.

Officials did not specify the relationship between the adult and child.

Information released by FDLE described Daryl Weldon as 5 feet 7 inches tall, with brown hair and brown eyes, weighing approximately 150 pounds.

Investigators also thought the pair may have been traveling in a 2014 silver Mitsubishi Outlander with Florida tags IB14F, possibly headed to Colorado or Wisconsin.

Mount Dora police did not provide information Wednesday morning about where the boy was safely located or who he was with, nor did they say if any arrests have been made.
