ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A bank robber wasn't afraid to show his face when he held up a Bank of America on Orange Blossom Trail in Rosemont Wednesday Morning, deputies said.
Investigators said the suspect did not show a gun.
"It's terrible it makes you feel unsafe," said Tonya Mcgregor, a Bank of America customer.
Orange County detectives told WFTV the whole thing went down in just minutes. They said the African-American man in his 30s came into the bank just after 10:00am. Then, he slipped the teller a note with a message that he wanted money and a handgun.
"He implied that he had a weapon and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash," said Detective Allan Westfall, of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said as soon as he got the money he ran out the parking lot of the bank and has not been seen since. WFTV was told that bank employees feared for their lives because they believed the man was armed. But because no one saw it, investigators said that it is likely he never had a gun.
Deputies said the man is well-known in the area and officers hope someone who has any information alerts the Orange County Sheriff's Office. Detectives spent several hours in the area trying to find the man by using search dogs and helicopters.
