ORANGE COUNTY, Fla.,None — A teenager was shot to death on Monday in an apparent road rage incident at Orange County intersection, according to deputies.

Deputies said they believe an argument between two drivers led to the gunfire.

Deputies said the victim, 19-year-old McFerrell Jones, was shot during some sort of altercation with another driver at a stop light at the intersection of Colonial Drive and Kirkman Road.

“There were some words that were exchanged at this intersection and at the end of that exchange the shooter made a comment, telling them they'd end their life,” said Detective Chris Williams, of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Then deputies said one of the drivers pulled out a gun and shot Jones multiple times. Detectives say Jones drove a block away to a restaurant parking lot, then died in his SUV.

“I don't know if it's road rage or not, but clearly the victim and his passenger did not know these people,” said Williams.

Deputies said Jones' uninjured passenger fled and called for help.

“He ran for help, he was obviously in fear, and who wouldn't be…to be involved in an encounter like that,” said Williams. “He saw his friend shot and killed, right next to him.”

Now deputies are searching for the person who shot and killed Jones inside his SUV as he pulled away from the stoplight. Deputies said they are looking for the second vehicle, possibly a white Dodge vehicle.

Deputies said Jones was at a nightclub before the shooting, but they don't think he encountered the shooter until he was at the intersection. It's believed there were people with the shooter in his car, but so far no one has come forward.

Deputies said they're working on a composite sketch of the shooter, but it won't be available until later in the week.

No further details are available at this time.
