ORLANDO, Fla.,None — Some of the nation's busiest airports are expected to reopen Monday after canceling thousands of flights because of tropical storm Irene.
Some passengers are still stuck in Orlando after nearly 200 flights were canceled at Orlando International Airport.
It could be days before those passengers get to their destinations.
"There's nothing we can do. We couldn't get them on the phone, or online, so we're just stuck here now in Orlando," said Caroline Rochester.
Stranded passengers are waking up after another night of sleeping on the floors after getting stuck at OIA.
WFTV spoke to one passenger who spent a night at OIA and she said she may have to spend three more there before she gets home.
Horrible, horrible. Look, my granddaughter and daughter are sleeping on luggage, said Diane Fauzer.
She said her family is trying get back to Philadelphia after a week at Disney.
Her flight was supposed to leave Sunday morning, but she said it could be Thursday before she gets on a new flight.
We can't get Amtrak, Greyhound, we cant get anything out of here," she said.
On Sunday, more than 180 flights were scrapped because of tropical storm Irene.
Most of the flights out of Orlando were scheduled to go to places like Baltimore, Philadelphia, Washington and New York.
New Yorks five airports were closed all day on Sunday because of the storm.
A whole mess. It's just sadness. We want to get home after a long vacation and see our children as well, said Fauzer.
Officials at OIA suggest passengers check their flights before leaving for the airport.
