Orlando, Orange County mayors say they won’t defund police departments
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings both said they are not considering defunding their police departments during a Monday briefing. They both say they’ll review training, policies and more, but Demings said changing any of that could actually cost more money.
The announcement came after the Minneapolis City Council vowed to dismantle the city’s police department.
7:12 a.m. update:
Private funeral service for Floyd to be held in Houston
Mourners will gather to remember George Floyd during a private funeral Tuesday in Houston.
The service is scheduled for noon and will feature a eulogy by the Rev. Al Sharpton and a video message from former Vice President Joe Biden.

5:10 a.m. update:
Orange County Sheriff’s Office to update use of force policy
The Orange County Sherriff’s Office said it has updated its use of force policy following nationwide protests over the death of George Floyd.
The change makes it so that deputies have a duty to intervene if they anticipate or observe the unreasonable, unnecessary or disproportionate use of force.
