VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood took to Twitter to voice his displeasure after he said health officials will no longer provide addresses that are being monitored for COVID-19.
According to Chitwood, the health department made the decision partially because the effort takes too much time.
Sorry to inform you tonight that our covid-19 data updates for Volusia County are over.

The Department of Health just told us that effective immediately, they're no longer providing us the addresses that are being monitored for covid-19.
The sheriff called the move a government failure.

Chitwood also stated that while he doesn’t think his deputies should enforce people to wear masks, he believes it should be up to businesses to mandate if customers should wear one or not.
I've said I'm not in favor of a govt-enforced mask order. I don't believe it's my deputies' job to enforce mask-wearing on people. But I believe the private sector- grocery stores, restaurants, retailers of all kinds- are in a position to create a mask mandate that makes sense.
