ORLANDO, Fla.,None — Chief Judge Belvin Perry, late Wednesday afternoon, denied the defense's motion to throw out controversial chloroform evidence found in the trunk of Casey Anthony's car (read judge's order). This decision could seriously jeopardize the defense's ability to convince a jury that Caylee Anthony's death was an accident.

Even Chief Judge Belvin Perry ruled that the evidence of a massive amount of chloroform, a leading research scientist found in Casey's trunk, could be related to the search for how to make chloroform on the Anthony's home computer and could be connected then to Casey.
A research scientist, who has done groundbreaking work in the field of human decomposition, said he found an amount of chloroform in Casey Anthony's car trunk that was 10,000 times more than he'd expect to see. The defense expert argued the methods the scientist used to determine that were faulty.
Wednesday, Judge Perry disagreed and ruled the jury will hear that evidence.
WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer says it's very damaging to Casey.
"What this may well do is take away the defense argument that this was an accident," Sheaffer said (watch full interview).
Sheaffer says the prosecution's expert is one of the few in the country who is an expert in the field and Sheaffer believes the prosecution expert will win the credibility contest with the defense expert, hands down.
Sheaffer also says this ruling, combined with the chief judge's rulings Tuesday to keep the evidence in showing Caylee's dead body was in her mother's trunk, will be very hard for the defense to fight.
WFTV expects the judge's ruling on the controversial air tests on her trunk, which have never been used anywhere in a criminal case, to come down any day, along with his ruling on plant growth evidence.
Casey goes to trial May 9. She's accused of killing her daughter and dumping the body in the woods near her parents' home.
