Lake Eola swans receive their annual checkup

ORLANDO, Fla. — On Saturday, the annual swan round-up took place at Lake Eola.

Every year the Lake Eola swans receive their annual checkup, and this year, two new swans were introduced to the flock. The two donated swans are female Trumpeter swans.

On Saturday, City Commissioner Patty Sheehan, along with a veterinarian and a group of specially trained volunteers, participated in the City of Orlando’s annual Swan Round-Up.

During the round-up, specially trained volunteers corral the swans at the west end of the park. Once corralled, the swans are weighed, inoculated and checked by a veterinarian.

Lake Eola is home to more than Lake Eola is home to more than 50 swans representing five different breeds:

Trumpeter swans

Black Neck swans

Whooper swans

Royal Mute swans

Australian Black swans
