$10M emergency room opens in Hunter's Creek

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A new $10 million emergency room in Hunter's Creek is now open to the public.

The new Hunter's Creek ER on South John Young Parkway is part of the Osceola County Regional Medical Center, and officials expect to serve more than 300,000 a year.

"At Osceola Regional Medical Center, we've noticed a large number of the population comes from Hunter's Creek and it's an area that isn't really served well for medical services because they have to drive to different locations," said Dr. Craig Mitchell, M.D. of Osceola Regional Medical Center.

Officials said if they need to get someone to the main hospital, they have an ambulance on site and access to a helicopter for transportation.

Registered nurse Stephanie Hankerson thinks the new ER could see even more than the projected 300,000.

"I actually anticipate having a high volume in this area because you're right on the crux of Osceola County and Orange County," she said.

Before, the closest ERs would have been Osceola Regional or Doctor Phillips.
