ORLANDO, Fla. — A 17-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with a fight at an Orange County college bar that left a woman with serious head injuries.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said Abdeil Valcarcel and his family went to a sheriff’s substation Tuesday to speak with investigators about the incident. After speaking with investigators, Valcarcel was arrested and charged with felony battery.
The fight happened last Friday at Knight Library on University Boulevard during an alleged 18-and-over event.
Earlier this week, 19-year-old Olivia Nogueras said in a TikTok video that she was at the bar with her girlfriend when the fight broke out.
Nogueras said she was violently thrown to the ground. She suffered a fractured skull and brain bleed, according to the report.
According to the incident report, an off-duty deputy working at the bar was told that the victim was allegedly picked up off the floor, slammed to the ground and punched in the face.
The report also says a bartender told the deputy he reviewed surveillance video that did not show someone being battered.
Valcarcel appeared before a judge Thursday and later walked out of the juvenile justice center.
Channel 9 asked Valcarcel and his mother if they had anything to say about the charge.
“I don’t want to be recorded. I don’t want to be recorded. This is all still under investigation,” his mother said to us in spanish.
It remains unclear how Valcarcel, who is 17, was able to enter the bar during an 18-and-over event.
A legal expert told Channel 9 that investigators are looking into whether people under 18 were allowed inside and whether anyone under 21 was drinking.
It is also unclear what role Valcarcel allegedly played in the fight or whether additional arrests are expected.
Channel 9 has reached out to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office for information about any potential additional arrests but has not received a response.
