• Car accident leaves 3 dead in Polk County


    POLK COUNTY, Fla.,None - Three people were killed Sunday afternoon in a head-on crash on State Road 33 in Polk County.

     The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said it does not know what caused 36-year-old Lily Cline to lose control of her car.

    However, officers said that as she was correcting the vehicle. Cline crossed over into oncoming traffic and hit a car carrying William Schultz and his wife, Joann.

    Cline and Joann Schultz died at the scene. William Schultz died while undergoing surgery at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

    "This was a particularly awful crash, with the loss of three lives. Any loss of life is tragic, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of these victims. Although our investigators aren't certain yet what caused this crash, I want to remind everyone to please be careful when driving on our roadways." said Sheriff Grady Judd of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

    Deputies said everyone involved was wearing their seat belt.
