APOPKA, Fla. — More than 20 students at Wekiva High School spent the day in suspension after school officials said their class shirts violated dress code.
The shirts, which read “Keep calm and kiss our class goodbye,” were designed and worn by the 2015 senior class.
School officials told the students the phrase on the shirts implied offensive language.
Students said they meant no harm in creating the shirts.
“I know the kid who made these shirts. That’s not what he meant it to be like. I means, like, kiss our class, we’re leaving, we’re seniors, we are going to be done,” said student Samantha Wright.
Officials with the school district did not comment on the issue.
