6 sharks delivered to new SeaLife Orlando aquarium

ORLANDO, Fla. — Six sharks were delivered Friday to SeaLife Orlando on International Drive.

SeaLife Orlando is a new aquarium which will open in a few weeks.

"We're always interested in new attractions here in Orlando because we live here and we do go out to I-Drive and hit some tourist areas," local resident Jessica Barrientos said.

Despite the traffic that the tourist areas often bring, Barrientos said it's worth checking out.

"I think that living in Orlando, with the tourists, you just get used to it," she said.

WFTV reporter Janai Norman got a look at the new attraction for tourists and local residents at the I-Drive 360 Complex.

In addition to the six new sharks, SeaLife Orlando has a 360-degree tunnel that makes visitors feel like they are underwater.

"If you were scuba diving somewhere in the Atlantic, it would look very much like this," Steve Blair of SeaLife Orlando said.

Blair said it's the only place in the city to get a view like that.

"So, when you think of Orlando, local residents should say, 'We need to go see that (Orlando) Eye. We need to go up there,' and take your family and friends when they visit to go see it and the wax museum. The wax attraction and the SeaLife are all a part of that," Blair said.

SeaLife, the Orlando Eye and the wax museum are scheduled to open on May 4.
