COLUMBUS, Ohio,None — The agent for former Florida Gator football coach Urban Meyer confirmed Monday morning that Meyer is headed to Ohio State University, ESPN is reporting.
The sports network did not cite a source for its report. No formal announcement has been set yet.
Rumors started swirling last week that Meyer would be announced as the new coach.
Meyer resigned as head coach of the Gators a year ago due to health and family concerns.
He has been working as an analyst with ESPN for the past year, but asked to be removed from his assignments over the weekend.
Meyer won two national championships at Florida and is returning to his Ohio roots by becoming coach of a Buckeyes team facing NCAA problems.
No announcement has been set by Ohio State, although there were reports that a team meeting set for Sunday night has been moved to Monday afternoon.
Meyer has a 10-year record of 104-23. He takes over a program that has been hit by several suspensions and the forced resignation of coach Jim Tressel.
The Buckeyes completed a 6-6 season under interim Luke Fickell with a 40-34 loss to rival Michigan on Saturday.
