Victims ID'd after gunman opens fire on car near Colonial Drive

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — One man was killed and another was injured in a shooting near the Wellesley Lake apartment complex off Colonial Drive early Friday morning, Orange County deputies said.

Deputies said three men in a car were shot at the intersection of Apopka-Vineland Road and West Colonial Drive.

Passenger Terrence Williams, 21, was killed, police said.  Driver Douglas Brown, 21, was critically injured and is currently hospitalized.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said a second passenger wasn’t hurt, but neighbors said he was very upset at the scene.

“We can't put a motive to it publicly this morning,” said Capt. Angelo Nieves. “The detectives got preliminary information, but it's too early to discuss publicly.”

Investigators said the victims didn't go to a hospital, but they managed to drive into the apartment complex, where Brown may have lived.

When deputies arrived, they said, they found the men in the car, which was riddled with bullets.

Investigators said they're questioning the passenger who wasn't wounded.

"It was like a blue Charger that is usually parked there. The engine was still running and it looked like a body was hanging on the floor by the passenger side," said resident Leesandra Alexandre.

"My mother is going to go crazy once she hears that news," said resident Emmanuel Daphnis.

During their investigation, deputies found about 10 bullet casings on a crosswalk about a mile from the apartment complex.

Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.
