• Suspects arrested in Poinciana attempted carjacking

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. - Osceola County Sheriff's Office detectives said they have arrested the suspects who tried to carjack a man and his child Friday morning.

The investigation began Friday morning at about 5:35 a.m. when deputies responded to Americana Court and San Remo Road in Poinciana after getting reports of an attempted carjacking.

Deputies arrested 21-year-old Bolivar Hiciano, Jr. and 18-year-old Andre Thompson, Jr. Friday night. They are facing a slew of charges, including attempted carjacking and attempted murder.

The victim, Ismael, whose last name was withheld, told deputies he was waiting in his car with his daughter for her school bus when the armed suspects approached them.

Ismael said he had a bad feeling when he saw the two assailants get out of their dark-colored SUV and walk towards his car so he quickly locked his doors just in time.

Authorities said one of the men motioned for the victim to get out of the car, but Ismael said his car was running and he was able to hit the gas hard and take off.

The men fired a shot at the car and then fled the area, investigators said.

"The bullet missed me by 2 inches, right in the seat," said Ismael.

"The car doors were locked, so he was able to speed away and call law enforcement," said Twis Lizasuain of the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.

"I could have been dead right now, my kid could have been dead," Ismael said.

Fortunately he and his daughter weren't hit. Ismael said he took his daughter to another bus stop and he called 911 for help.

Deputies quickly began the search for the suspects and were able to arrest Hiciano, Jr. and Thompson, Jr. the same day.

It was an emotional moment as Ismael returned to the scene to embrace his daughter as she got off the bus Friday afternoon.

The victim said there aren't any lights at the bus stop and it is very dark in the morning. He said the lack of light makes the area dangerous and he wants to see changes made in order to keep kids safe.

The suspects are being held at the Osceola County jail, officials said.
